You can expect to see fresh faces this season, as there are no special entries from contestants of previous seasons. In fact, you may not only be seeing some fresh contestants, but new judges, too.

Mithun Chakraborty is expected to be back – he has appeared in every season so far and plans to continue to do so.  However, Remo is working with Jhalak Dhikhhla Jaa this season. Still, Remo is expected to join us again for DID 3, which is anticipated to begin in March 2011. Terence Lewis will also be away this season, as he is working with Saroj Khan in Nachle Ve this season, but hopefully, you’ll see him in DID 3. Word on the street is that Geeta Kapoor will definitely be back – but I’ll have to confirm that with another press release later! As for the hosts, Saumya Tandon and Jay Bhanushali will probably be joining us for another fun-filled season!

So how did Zee TV come up with the idea for Dance India Dance Doubles? Ashish Golwalkar, head of programming, non-fiction shows, Zee TV, notes that, “There are several forms of western dance such as the cha cha, jive and salsa which can’t be performed by one person. So we thought that extending the show into a doubles format may work.”

As Remo and Terence are not joining us this season, Zee is looking into other judges, like Shiamak Davar and Sandip Soparrkar. We’ll keep you posted!

Our source says “The channel has approached Shiamak to be in the judging panel replacing Remo, but nothing has been confirmed as of now. Talks are still going on with Shiamak and we hope to get a response soon.”

If our source is to be believed, after Remo not doing the show, we also hear that there is a possibility that the contemporary maestro Terence Lewis might also not be a part of the show.

Absence of two prominent judges in the show is a great loss for the show and the contestants.

Let’s hope the contestants get their best of judgments from the eminent judges from the industry.

Saroj and Terence will be teaching popular TV celebrities who will compete with each other each week.

So, who can you count on seeing? Saroj is thrilled to teach dance again. She says, “This was one of my first dance shows that was close to my heart. Atul from Jai’s team performed Aerial Ring & Contemporary on ’Give Me Some Sunshine’ with a ring as a prop.

Jeetumoni from Dharmesh’s team performed Freestyle on ‘Na Tum Jaano Na Hum’ with a turn table rotating metal pole) as a prop.

Bottom 3 were Ruturaj, Vaishnavi, and Vatsal. Vatsal got the least votes this week and was eliminated.

It’s unknown whether Amrita will stay or not, since she now has no contestants. Kushboo has not yet been declared fit to perform by the doctor.

The Grand Finale is confirmed to be held on August 7th in Pune.

“Dance India Dance L’il Masters is reaching its finale and the coming episode is considered as one of the best episodes so far atleast performance wise.

In this episode, all the three mentors  of Dance India Dance – Remo, Geeta and Terence are joined by celebrities Prachi Desai and Emraan Hashmi. Prachi and Emraan had come to promote their upcoming film Once Upon a Time in Mumbai.

All the skippers did creative acts in the episode. But unfortunately it was a bad day for Vatsal from Amrita’s team and his elimination has moved Amrita out from the competition. The one other person from Amrita’s team, Khushboo has still not recovered from her fractured hand to perform.

‘Best skipper of the week’ title was awarded to all the mentors-  Jai, Mayuresh – Vrushali and Dharmesh [AnnieJ wonders why Amrita isn't mentioned!] and ‘Best performer of the week’ title was awarded to Vaishnavi. The episode will be telecasted this Saturday.

A little birdie informs us that the grand finale will be held in Pune on the 7th of August.

Katja, 18, had never met an Indian before. Training to be a hair dresser, Katja is still not sure where India is in the geography map. However, her life has changed since Terence Lewis, also known as Shiva, taught her to twist – Bollywood style.

“This is my first exposure to a completely different culture and the experience is amazing, very refreshing,” a breathless Katya said just before joining a group of dancers waiting to twist some more to a heady number from Love Aaj Kal. For the past three years, Terence, celebrity choreographer and judge on Zee TV’s Dance India Dance, has come to Vienna every summer at the invitation of Austria’s ministry of education, art and culture to dance with students here. Two schools are chosen by the ministry for Terence where scores of students between 10 and 18 years dance every evening at a workshop which culminates in a fabulous public performance at Vienna’s sprawling shopping mall called Shopping City Sud.

Over the years, Terence has found a big fan-following. He is adored here as his students rent the air chanting his name to dance on stage. He will soon be seen in the German film Hexe Lilli. This year Terence came with Narendra Patil, a young teacher who moves like a whirling top. Later in July and August, Terence will lead BollyHop, one of the 180 workshops held by Impulz Tanz in different dance styles.

Since the mood reigning in the past at BollyHop workshops for all age groups is in the same spirit as yes we can, Terence is now known here as the Obama of dance. The event is organised by Vienna’s Impulz Tanz – Europe’s largest contemporary dance festival that enjoys the coveted reputation as the ‘Mecca of Movement’. The idea is to get more young people interested in the vibrant and creative formsof contemporary dance from all over the world.

Workshops at different schools are assigned to other dance gurus like Neils Robitzky, also known as Storm, and Daybee Dorzile from Berlin. Storm, a break dance champion, was in India to teach and perform with the participants of Dance India Dance.

This constant exchange of creative ideas between artists and the audience is encouraged to bring life-asserting activities like dance and music out of expensive, closed door performances, to the street, the daily narrative, and to ordinary people. The heart of a gigantic shopping mall serves as an ideal venue on a Saturday morning both for the dancers and those who throng to watch the colourful, joyous spectacle. So infectious is the atmosphere that the dancer’s invitation to everyone to Aaja Nachle is immediately grabbed after which the entire cosmos seems to drop all the conspicuous consumption business and buying and selling – to twist, and twist, and twist…
