Our source says “The channel has approached Shiamak to be in the judging panel replacing Remo, but nothing has been confirmed as of now. Talks are still going on with Shiamak and we hope to get a response soon.”

If our source is to be believed, after Remo not doing the show, we also hear that there is a possibility that the contemporary maestro Terence Lewis might also not be a part of the show.

Absence of two prominent judges in the show is a great loss for the show and the contestants.

Let’s hope the contestants get their best of judgments from the eminent judges from the industry.

Saroj and Terence will be teaching popular TV celebrities who will compete with each other each week.

Saroj is thrilled to teach dance again. She says, “This was one of my first dance shows that was close to my heart. I am looking forward to get the entire nation on their feet once again.” Pull out your dancing shoes and get ready to boogie! Nachle Ve will be aired every Monday to Friday at 7 pm on Imagine.

A source says, “Remo has just come down from Malaysia as he was busy with his choreography for his next upcoming movie. He was a bit confused with the judging ventures he had; he was somehow juggling between Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and Dance India Dance, but has finally decided to accept Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa as he was clueless about the coming season of Dance India Dance Doubles.”

“Remo was going to be part of DID Season 3 as it was going to start in March next year.  As he had time in hand, he decided to do Jhalak now and even signed the papers. But now he got the information about the immediate season of DID Doubles, he was left helpless as it would be unfair on his part to deny Jhalak after signing the agreement,” adds our source.

We contacted Remo, but he was busy as his father has been admitted to the hospital after suffering a paralytic attack. However, Remo’s wife on his behalf  told us,  “Yes, Remo has finally signed on the agreement for Jhalak.  It would be unfair on our part to deny the channel  now. Anyways Zee TV will be always our family as Remo will be back in the show for DID season 3 coming March.”

Well now the air is cleared about Remo being a part of Jhalak!

Farah Khan, mother of three kids, shared her thoughts on managing her home and career together. “Sometimes when my kids fall ill, I [wonder] ‘why am I doing all this things if my kids are not well?’ At that moment, I think that I should leave everything.” So why does Farah take up reality shows if she feels it is difficult to manage? “Well, I take all those realities which are shot near my house –  even ‘Entertainment Ke…’ is being shot at Yash Raj, which is quite near to my house,” explains Farah.

Farah Khan is seen judging many reality shows on TV these days. “Actually season three of ‘Entertainment…’ is my 10th year to judge a reality show. If you count the shows and their seasons since ‘Indian Idol,’ ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Dancing Star,’ ‘Nach Baliye 4,’ and so on, and now with this season 2 of ‘Entertainment…,’ it is my 10th year to be on the judges panel. But after this season of ‘Entertainment…’ I am going to take a break, otherwise not only I but the audience also will feel bored to see the same face again and again,” says an overwhelmed Farah.

However, she admits that TV didn’t come naturally to her. “I learnt if from Sajid.” Farah’s brother Sajid judged for the first time with India’s Got Talent Season 2. “I went to his shows and picked it up from him. He taught me how to behave and be more interesting on TV. Now I can say I am pretty good,” she adds.

When asked how she feels about her brother judging another show, she said, “When it comes to judging, I am senior to Sajid. Though I think that Sajid can give better tips to the contestants, I can judge a person in a more proper manner.”

Do the kids recognize mommy on screen? “No, as they are two and half years old, for them there are two mommies. One is without make up, which they see at home and one is on-screen mamma with make up. But yes, they can make out Sajid when they see him on hoardings. They say that this is Sajid Mama (Uncle)”.

“Who can forget the epitome of a character that Dilip Kumar played when he portrayed Devdas in Bimal Roy’s evergreen classic? Or even Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s version of the modern Devdas in Shahrukh Khan?

Well, the latest is that DJ’s Creative Unit is working on an adaptation of Devdas, and this time it will be on the small screen!! And if sources are to be believed, the handsome hunk Iqbal Khan who has been missing from the limelight after Zee TV’s Waaris is all set to play this epitome character on television…

According to our khabroo, “The cast for the untitled show is almost finalized, and Deeya and Tony are making this show for Zee TV. Iqbal Khan will be playing the lead role, while Binny Sharma of Dance India Dance fame has been finalized for the role of Chandramukhi”.

Additi Gupta of Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil fame has been offered the role of Paro, but we hear that the actor has not given her nod yet for the same.

A little birdie also told us, “Talented veteran actor Aroona Irani has been finalized to play the male lead’s mother in the show”.

When contacted, Aroona Irani confirmed the news and said, “Yes, I am doing this show for Zee TV. It is a very nice role, which I wanted to do at any cost. For this, I have even rejected two or three other offers that came my way.”

We tried calling Iqbal Khan and even sent him a text message, but did not get any revert. We also tried calling Binny Sharma, but she remained unavailable.

When contacted, Additi Gupta said, “Yes, I was offered this show. But I am not doing it”.

We hear that the creative team plans to wrap up with the casting process very soon, and if all goes well, aims to start shoot in a week or so. The show is expected to take a prime time slot on Zee TV, and will launch in August.

We also tried getting a confirmation from Producer Tony Singh, and sent him a text too, but did not get any response.

Let’s start with winner of Dance India Dance Season 1, Salman Khan. In his opinion, the real struggle begins after the show, not during it. He says, “The contestants are nobody when they are picked up by these shows, and on the show we get lot of love and support from the people for our talent. But once the show is over, you are left alone and have to move on your own. Without godfather and guidance, the journey is quite tough. Today, I have only Remo Sir to look up to from the entire show.”

Salman Khan is presently assisting Vasu Bhagnani in direction of the film ‘Faltu,’ starring Akshay Kumar, Jackie Bhagnani and Pooja Gupta. After that, he intends to be acting in a dance-based film produced by none other than his mentor Remo D’souza, and he may also do a Tamil film later. In spite of the hardships, he is grateful for having been on DID 1: “I owe everything to the show, as I always wanted to be an actor. Since I do not come from a film-family, for me it was next to impossible to even dream of something like this. I was pursuing mechanical engineering and would have continued the same had the show did not happened to me. I would have never come to Mumbai to particularly try in films.”

Unfortunately, Salman Khan is one of the lucky ones. Debojit Saha reveals a dirty truth about reality shows:  “I don’t understand why when we sing in the reality shows, these music-directors would say waah waah, and when it comes to taking our voice for a playback for films, they would be reluctant. May be if they have to try new voice they go for a newcomer than taking a reality show singers, as they believe we anyway are earning from shows. Recently I had sung a song for 3 Idiots which Vidhu Vinod Chopra also liked, but at the last minute, Shaan was made to sing the song and it released in his voice. As of now, my full concentration is on playback singing.”

Debojit was also seen in another reality show, Big Boss, a show that has nothing to do with singing. When asked why he decided to appear on Big Boss, he replied, “I did not want to participate in the show but my wife persuaded me to go. I told them I will be there in the show only if I get to do my riyaaz. They allowed me so I went there with the intention of staying for not more than a couple of weeks. About money, my shows are doing well. There is no second opinion about this that I am surviving on my shows. It really helps you to go on as a singer. I have earned good name as a stage performer.” Recently, Debojit has been working on remaking a regional album by Bhupen Hazarika with the help of Hazarika’s newphew. He is also preparing to host a singing reality show for a Bengali channel, “Mahua Bangala.”

Another fantastic singer that resulted from a reality show is Amit Sana, runner-up of Indian Idol Season 1. Though he is a great singer, he has given up his dream to become a singer and instead wants to become a music director. He says, “Although my songs are ready now, I am in no hurry. I want them to be a part of a good film.” Anu Ji, who endlessly applauded Amit, apparently has not had any discussion with Amit on the matter. “No, apart from Indian idol, he himself is not composing much these days. So I know if I discuss anything with him, he may not be able to help me. He has struggled in his time, so even I want to go through the same process which will make me stronger.”

Why don’t reality show winners do well in the real world? Says Amit: “In a reality show, it is easy to come and sing some other singer’s old song, but when you are given a new song and made to sing in a studio, it’s a real testing time. Reality shows only make you popular, but soon after that, you cannot become a playback singer. Even if the show has as many as music directors in the judges panel, unless you are talented and in good terms with them, it will not help you. It is anyway not their responsibility to give us a chance. I will appreciate that I get a chance on my own capabilities, as then I will not have to share the credit of my achievement with anyone else or be thankful to them.”

Sometimes, people who appear on reality shows end up moving into other fields. Indian Idol’s first winner, Abhijeet Sawant, is now an actor and a TV host. Likewise, Meiyang Chang, another singer from Indian Idol, made his acting debut in the film Badmaash Company. Many others who dreamed of making it big in Bollywood have resigned themselves to do daily soaps instead. Struggle after the completion of a reality show seems to be common – so where does the heroism of the reality shows come into play? How have we been duped into thinking that the ordinary man is catapulted to fame and sits in the clouds thereafter?

As I had mentioned in a previous article, DID Li’l Masters recorded an opening TVR of 6.7. DID L’il Masters is maintaining its lead over the other two dance shows, “registering a TVR of 3.2. In comparison, Chak Dhoom Dhoom has managed a TVR of 2.35; while Zara Nach Ke Dikha has a TVR of 2.81.”

According to Hema Malik, general manager, Lodestar UM, the reason for this is that Zee TV has a strong weekend slot for all genres. (The 9:30 slot has been ruled by captivating shows like Sa Re Ga Ma Pa!)

Colors used to air National Bingo Night, hosted by Abhishek Bachchan, in the time slot occupied by Chak Dhoom Dhoom now. Bingo Night was not as successful as was hoped, as it didn’t live up to its hype and failed to grab any great ratings.

Unsurprisingly, ZeeTV played strategically, and DID L’il Masters was rolled out immediately after the DID2 Finale, leveling the playing field by not giving the other channels a head start. With two successful (and not to mention extremely entertaining) seasons of Dance India Dance, why wouldn’t people keep coming back for more?

DID L’il Masters and Chak Dhoom Dhoom are both children-based dance shows, and they both have a similar format (16 kids vying for a champion cup over the course of 13 weeks). According to Rajiv Gopinath, chief operating officer, Madison Platinum, the reason that DID L’il Masters is more popular than Chak Dhoom Dhoom is because, ”DID has been an established slot for the last five months; so, it was only natural for the opening of L’il Masters to have a blockbuster TVR. On the other hand, Chak Dhoom Dhoom needed huge promotions to get a good initial rating of 4.3.”

Gopinath also mentions that DID as a brand focuses on the talent of the ordinary man, whereas other shows like Zara Nach Ke Dikha use celebrities. Through two seasons, DID has been lucky to have 3 talented masters who are compassionate and encourage participants to do their best. By contrast, in the third week, Chak Dhoom Dhoom discovered that one of their judges, Vindoo Dara Singh, is being replaced!

Zara Nachke Dikha is not compared too much to the other two children-based dance shows. It has television actors and actresses pitted against each other in the classic girls versus boys teams. It used to be aired on STAR One and was shifted to STAR Plus in an attempt to garner more ratings, but it seems the ratings are more or less the same.
